Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking a Senior Developer in Platform Data Engineering to design, build and operationalise a Snowflake/AWS-based data platform. You will drive ingestion, transformation and exposure mechanisms to ensure scalable, reliable data services and contribute to automated testing, security and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or a related field, and 5 to 7 years of experience in data platform development in a large enterprise.
• AWS Certified Developer certification or be able to obtain it within the first year.
• SnowPro Core COF-C03 certification or be able to obtain it within the first year.
• Proficient AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, Step functions and Glue, as well as Python, Snowflake and Terraform.
• Advanced experience in DevOps practises, ongoing integration and deployment, automated testing, application security and containerisation.
• Advanced experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, Copilot GitHub, Codex and Cursor.
• Significant experience in designing large-scale data solutions and proficient in agile development, code review, documentation and testing practises.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust, efficient and scalable data pipelines on AWS and Snowflake.
• Data ingestion, transformation and exposure mechanisms to ensure availability, reliability and scalability.
• Evolve the data platform by automating the infrastructure with Terraform and applying DataOps best practises.
• Define and implement development, security, governance, documentation and automated testing standards.
• Optimize code quality and solution performance through code reviews and AI-assisted development tools; CI/CD.
• Support team members by sharing your technical expertise and actively contributing to agile activities and releases.
