Job summary

Clio, the global leader in legal AI technology, seeks a Senior Data Platform Engineer to scale our logging infrastructure and data pipelines. You will help design enterprise-scale logging platforms, integrate security-focused observability, and drive data architecture across Kubernetes and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with security and engineering teams, mentor staff, and influence roadmaps while balancing performance and cost in a hybrid, Canada-wide role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building enterprise-scale logging and data ingestion systems
• Data lakes, lake houses, multi-tier storage architectures for logs
• Experience with big data tech: Splunk, OpenSearch, ElasticSearch, ELK Stack, Hadoop
• Data modelling methods: Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault
• Streaming data platforms: Kafka, Kinesis, AWS Glue, Event Hubs
• Cloud storage architectures: S3, Data Lake, GCS
• IaC for logging infra (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Data pipeline tools: Spark, Flink, cloud-native services
• API design for secure log data access
• Monitoring and observability for logging platforms
• AI-first mindset to enhance decision-making and throughput

Responsibilities

• Design scalable logging infrastructure including data lakes and storage strategies
• Build high-throughput log ingestion pipelines using streaming tech
• Architect ELK/OpenSearch deployments and hybrid cloud logging
• Define data retention and cost optimization for petabyte-scale logs
• Collaborate on roadmaps and technical vision for logging platform
• Develop infrastructure as code for provisioning and disaster recovery
• Optimize queries and data partitioning across stores
• Design API layers for secure log data access
• Contribute to capacity planning and performance tuning
• Mentor engineers on logging best practices and platform operations
