Job summary

Dropbox is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Engineering in Canada to lead a team responsible for reliability, quality, cost, and velocity of our core data platform. You will own ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving layers, plus the self-serve analytics substrate to empower partner teams.

You will shape data contracts, semantic modeling, and data governance, while mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering or backend/data infrastructure experience with increasing scope.
• 3+ years of experience directly managing and growing engineering teams.
• Experience building and operating large-scale batch and streaming pipelines with Spark/dbt/Airflow.
• Ownership of data SLAs, observability, and incident response for critical pipelines.
• Strong data modeling and semantic layer design for downstream consumers.
• Excellent communication with data science, analytics, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data engineers for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving layers.
• Own data quality, lineage, freshness monitoring, and reliability metrics.
• Improve unit economics of the data platform while maintaining reliability.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and Product to define standards and contracts.
• Establish engineering practices including CI/CD for data and postmortems.
• Mentor and grow a high-talent-density team with focus on ownership and learning.
