Job summary

National Bank of Canada in Montreal is seeking a Senior Developer in Data Engineering on the Financial crime and regulatory projects team. You will design data models, build scalable pipelines, and advance our platforms to strengthen analytics and governance.

You’ll work with the FinCrim Data Warehouse team, applying data vault and dimensional modeling, and implement cloud solutions using Kafka, AWS, Snowflake and Terraform to deliver reliable, high-performance data assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in data engineering, particularly data design and modelling using data vault and dimensional approaches.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of data models and data relationships; ability to explore data and assess quality.
• Experience designing, developing and operating large-scale data solutions in distributed and cloud environments.
• Proficient SQL and Python and data processing optimization practices.
• Knowledge of Kafka and hands-on experience developing or operating real-time data processing solutions.
• Knowledge of AWS, Snowflake, Terraform and DevOps practices, automation, CI/CD pipelines.
• Understand data quality, governance, security and valuation.
• Languages: French, English

Responsibilities

• Define and develop data models meeting analytical needs; understand data models, structures, relationships and meaning.
• Design, develop and maintain robust data pipelines in batch or real-time with Kafka in cloud environments.
• Integrate and automate data between systems and business applications; optimise processing with SQL and Python.
• Implement governance, control, quality and security mechanisms for data integrity and confidentiality.
• Influence evolution of data strategy, platforms and infrastructures; promote automation practices.
