Job summary

National Bank is seeking a Senior Developer in Platform Data Engineering to join the Horizon team in Montreal. You will help design, develop and operationalize a data analytics platform built on Snowflake and AWS, advancing modern data solutions through automation and DevOps practices.

You will build robust data pipelines on AWS and Snowflake, manage ingestion and transformation, and promote data availability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 5–7 years of data platform development experience in a large enterprise.
• Proficient with AWS, Snowflake, Terraform, and Python.
• Advanced DevOps, CI/CD, security and containerisation experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines on AWS and Snowflake.
• Data ingestion, transformation and exposure mechanisms to ensure availability, reliability and scalability.

A career as a Senior Developer in Platform Data Engineering on the Horizon team at National Bank means helping to design, develop and operationalise a data and analytics platform based on snowflake and AWS cloud services. This position allows you to have a positive impact on modernising our solutions thanks to your expertise in data engineering, automation and DevOps practises.

Design, develop and maintain robust, efficient and scalable data pipelines on AWS and snowflake.

Data ingestion, transformation and exposure mechanisms to ensure availability, reliability and scalability.

Evolve the data platform by automating the infrastructure with Terraform and applying DataOps best practises.

Define and implement development, security, governance, documentation and automated testing standards.

Optimize code quality and solution performance through code reviews, artificial intelligence-assisted development tools, and ongoing integration and deployment practises.

Support team members by sharing your technical expertise and actively contributing to agile activities and releases.

On the Horizon: Big Data and Analytics ecosystems team, you will be part of a team of 25 experts and report to the Manager – Analytics Assets. Prerequisites

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or a related field, and 5 to 7 years of experience in data platform development in a large enterprise.

SnowPro Core COF-C03 certification or be able to obtain it within the first year.

Proficient AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, Step functions and Glue, as well as Python, snowflake and Terraform.

Advanced experience in DevOps practises, ongoing integration and deployment, automated testing, application security and containerisation.

Advanced experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, Copilot GitHub, Codex and Cursor.

Significant experience in designing large-scale data solutions and proficient in agile development, code review, documentation and testing practises.
