Job Description

Insight Global is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to join the data organization of one of Canadas largest insurance companies. This pivotal role involves providing hands-on engineering leadership, focusing on the design and construction of data products and platforms that manage and store extensive datasets.

Note : This role is fully remote across Canada, but requires work to be done in EST.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the design and development of resilient data products and platforms.
  • Ensure data products are secure, accessible, and compliant with governance policies.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Upskill team members in data tools and technologies.
  • Oversee the implementation of new data tools.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of building, deploying, and maintaining data products.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as Senior / Lead Data Engineer with a focus on Azure and Databricks
  • 5+ years of experience in coding with terraform, python and pyspark
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions in Azure
  • Understanding of the backup, disaster recovery, and data recovery strategy and execution with the above services
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure such as cloud security and networking and experience in implementing best practices

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience in building a 360 view of a customer
  • Good to have knowledge / experience with Microsoft Fabric (SaaS) and Gen AI-related technology including Azure ML, Azure OpenAI
  • Experience with Purview
  • Financial or insurance industry experience
