Job summary

RBC is seeking a security engineering professional in Toronto to manage network security incident escalations, analyze root causes, and coordinate with vendors for permanent solutions. You will own security infrastructure maintenance, including patch management and upgrades, across the enterprise to sustain security standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise security appliances (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, Fortinet, Pulse Secure, Citrix, Cisco Firepower, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and core protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, SSL/TLS, IPSec, NAT).
  • Proficiency in packet analysis tools for troubleshooting network and security issues.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages for automation.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and AI-assisted tools for infrastructure monitoring, analysis, or optimization.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborative mindset to drive organizational goals across technical and business teams.

  • Stay current with industry standards and emerging technologies through participation in training and technology reviews.

What You Need to Succeed
Must Have
  • Strong hands‑on experience configuring and maintaining enterprise security appliances (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, Fortinet, Pulse Secure, Citrix, Cisco Firepower, or equivalent)
  • Expert understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and core protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, SSL/TLS, IPSec, NAT)
  • Proficiency in packet analysis tools for troubleshooting network and security issues
  • Solid scripting and coding experience in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages for automation
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and experience with AI‑assisted tools for infrastructure monitoring, analysis, or optimization
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams, external vendors, and senior leadership
  • Exceptional collaborative mindset with the ability to foster strong working relationships across technical and business teams while driving collective achievement of organizational goals
Nice‑to‑Have
  • CISSP or CCNP R&S certification
  • Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) tools and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and large language models (LLMs) for security operations tasks
