Job summary

Gleeds in Toronto, ON seeks a Cost Assurance Specialist/Cost Manager to support a major infrastructure project in Canada. You will provide commercial, financial, cost management and cost assurance expertise across complex projects, reviewing costs, budgets and forecasts with independent assurance for informed decisions.

The role reports to the Canada Operations Director and requires a strong background in cost management and project controls across large-scale infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in cost management, cost assurance or commercial management.
• Experience on large infrastructure projects in client, consultancy or contractor environments.
• Proven ability to audit and verify actual costs and assess contractor costs.
• Experience developing risk-based audit plans and cost verification programmes.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Experience communicating cost information clearly to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide cost management, commercial and financial assurance across major infrastructure projects.
• Conduct independent verification of costs across categories and workstreams.
• Review contractors' accounting systems and processes for accuracy and controls.
• Develop and execute risk-based audit plans aligned with project requirements.
• Perform detailed audits of actual and forecast costs and supporting documentation.
• Analyze project expenditure and contractor performance to identify risks and discrepancies.
• Review cost reimbursement and other contracting models and assess entitlements.
• Prepare robust cost reports, audit documentation and senior-stakeholder findings.
