Job summary

Sun Life is hiring a Senior Communications Specialist for a 14-month contract in Canada. The role reports to the Director of Corporate Communications and provides strategic counsel across Corporate Office functions, translating complex initiatives into clear narratives and polished presentations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a communications, public relations, consulting or journalism role.
• University degree in a related field (communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, etc.).
• Understanding of the external environment and media landscape.
• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with ability to translate complex ideas.
• Strong visual communication skills and executive-ready PowerPoint presentations.
• Experience creating content across digital, video, social media, and other platforms.
• Hands on experience communicating through various channels with measurement best practices.
• Highly organized, adaptable and independent with good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide communications support for Finance, Legal, and Sun Life Asset Management by writing/editing presentations, speeches, briefing materials, web content and developing other materials.
• Develop materials and support for executive meetings and events, including town halls, ensuring aligned messaging and visuals.
• Leverage channels to engage employees and stakeholders, tailoring content to the platform and audience, including social media.
• Develop recommendations and provide communications advice to strengthen partnerships and corporate priorities.
• Build media relationships to enhance Sun Life’s reputation and generate proactive pitching ideas.
• Manage internal distribution of company messages via global email platform and intranet.
• Analyze effectiveness of programs and report results.
