Job summary

Sun Life is hiring a Director, Advanced Underwriting, in Canada. You will lead underwriting decisions with medical and financial risk assessment, partnering with management, product and reinsurers to drive favorable outcomes for clients.

You will mentor teams, participate in high net worth reviews, and contribute to Sun Life’s client-first culture, with a hybrid work model and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical, judgement, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Client-focused with proactive service orientation.
• Strong knowledge of medical and financial risk factors in underwriting.
• Ability to work with management, product and reinsurers.
• Fluent in French and English for cross-Canada communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance applications and evidence of insurability.
• Apply underwriting expertise across medical, financial and lifestyle factors.
• Negotiate decisions with reinsurers per treaties and rules.
• Explain decisions to advisors and Clients’ physicians as required.
• Build relationships with leaders, distribution teams and advisors.
