Litens Automotive Group in Hamilton, Ontario, seeks a Senior Motor Controls Engineer to advance ultra high‑performance EV motor controls. You will design, implement, and validate control algorithms (FOC, sensorless, observers) and push innovations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The role requires 7+ years in electric motor controls, strong MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, and hands-on experience with embedded real-time platforms (TI C2000) and instrumentation. CAD 130k–150k per year.

The role motor controls play in EV development cannot be overstated. We are growing our motor development team rapidly. We need an innovative and driven engineer who wants to build not only products but a process and tool chain that can deliver on big goals and in record time. We are pushing through development of a new axial flux motor topology and need controls implemented in a way to maximize performance. We’re going to change the EV landscape and help the environment while doing so, if this sounds like a movement you want to help lead, this is the role for you.
Minimum BEng in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in electric motor controls development, preferably within the automotive industry.
Demonstrated experience developing, simulating, implementing, and validating motor control algorithms for electric drives.
Experience developing motor control algorithms including FOC, sensorless control, observers/state estimation, field weakening, and torque/speed control.
Experience with PWM strategies including Space Vector PWM, Sine PWM, and discontinuous modulation techniques.
Strong understanding of motor drive systems, including motors, inverters, sensors, and power electronics.
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for control algorithm development, simulation, and validation.
Experience implementing and debugging control algorithms on embedded real-time systems (e.g. TI C2000 DSPs) using C coding and/or Simulink Code Generation.
Experience with source control and collaborative development tools such as Git, GitLab, or GitHub.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and validating motor control systems using dynamometers, SIL, PIL, and HIL.
Hands-on experience with laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, current probes, DAQ systems, and dynamometer instrumentation.
Experience in integrating motor control functions with sensors, ECUs, and power electronics
Proven ability to solve complex technical problems, drive controls development independently, and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
Compensation: $ 130,000 to $ 150,000 annually
