Job description

Senior Consultant, Communications & Engagement

At CCGoodwin Consulting, we are part management consultancy, part agency. We work strategically with our clients, digging deep into their objectives, pain points and opportunities to design solutions that help them win. Our wheelhouse is in the creation and delivery of marketing communications programs, plans, campaigns and tools, from soup to nuts. We also deliver projects in strategic planning, sustainability, governance, organizational development and change management. In all that we do, we are evidence-based, market-focused, creative and measurement-driven. Our team is composed of hand-picked, top talent from across North America. With our distributed and flexible model, we work remotely, but collaborate virtually and in-person on a day-to-day basis.

Since founding the firm in 2019, we have continuously grown the business and client base within Canada. To support our growth, we are on the hunt for a Senior Consultant, Communications & Engagement. As we continue to build a more diverse team, we welcome and strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and underserved communities to apply and join us.

Role Summary

As a Senior Consultant, Communications & Engagement, you will help manage and deliver client projects across the business, including strategic plans, communications, multi-audience engagement plans, policy papers and other complex deliverables, working directly with our team, roster of talent and clients. You have a mind for public affairs, you are an exceptional writer and you are both entrepreneurial and resourceful. You will help develop creative ideas and products, manage schedules and budgets, and write and assemble materials for a range of channels that achieve results. In all of the work that you do, you will be encouraged to think outside of the box, and you will be supported by a team of practitioners who have your back. This role is based in Saint John, Fredericton or Moncton, New Brunswick. For the right candidate, we are open to other remote work locations in New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to manage, develop and deliver client projects, with a specific focus on critical thinking, research and strong writing, including editing, proofing, formatting and coordinating the design of materials, as required. These materials include, but are not limited to: (1) strategic communications, engagement and marketing plans; (2) strategic communications, engagement and marketing products (research reports; project plans/schedules; collateral copy; website, social media and other digital content; speaking notes; news releases and other media relations materials, etc.); (3) Policy-oriented (research, policy writing, briefing notes, position papers, etc.); (4) strategic and corporate plans; (5) facilitated workshop materials.
  • Write compelling copy for a range of channels, both print and digital (e.g., news releases, publications, social media, websites, etc.)
  • Lead primary and secondary research to inform client projects, with the help of our vendor partners as appropriate.
  • Write, edit, proof and format communications materials, working with our designers as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of creative ideas and assets.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets and overall delivery with precision and excellence.
  • Remain current with trends and best practices within primary area(s) of expertise and bring learnings to client projects and others within the firm.
  • Support business development through the coordination of proposal development, including project management, research and proposal writing.
  • Help manage our roster of creative talent, supervising materials production, photo and video shoots, event logistics, etc.; contracts; schedules; and budgets for key projects, maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Deliver exceptional client service.
  • Contribute to the firm’s vision and business plans, and help build a culture of learning, excellence, client-centricity, inclusive leadership and fun.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or training with specialization in communications, business, journalism, marketing, political science or similar discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in a fast-paced communications and/or professional services environment, or equivalent, undertaking significant strategic and tactical responsibilities
  • Highly developed skills in critical thinking, written and verbal communications, research analysis, project management, problem-solving and interpersonal communication
  • Experience managing complex projects such as communications strategies and plans, multi-audience engagements, policy research and development, etc.
  • Experience supporting stakeholder relations, media relations, and issues and crisis communications management
  • Experience with copywriting for print and digital projects and a strong understanding of the best practices for each medium
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office programs (including Teams) and general fluency/comfort with technology
  • Fluency in both French and English is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Canadian Press (CP) Style is an asset
  • Professional services and/or agency experience is an asset

This role is for you if you are:

  • Strategic and analytical
  • Solutions-focused
  • Focused on continuous improvement, learning and staying on top of trends and best practices
  • Able to seek and provide constructive feedback in a clear and kind way
  • Motivated to deliver value and high-quality outputs for our clients
  • Ultra-organized
  • A team player and natural collaborator
  • Energetic and fun-loving, but serious about the work
  • Detail-oriented and flexible, someone who can take on various types of work based on the current priorities of the firm and our clients

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package that includes an incentive program, vacation, professional development, flexibility and other perks. Our team works from home, and it is a “bring-your-own-device” environment, for which we provide a monthly allowance and IT support.

Aligned with our values of creating a diverse and inclusive work environment, we welcome and strongly encourage individuals from communities that have experienced, and continue to experience, structural inequities to apply. Our firm adheres to the ISO 26000 guidelines for social responsibility, and we are taking steps to understand and apply the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action #92 (Business and Reconciliation).
