Job summary

TEEMA in Calgary, Alberta seeks an Experienced Estimator with 3–10 years in commercial construction to deliver accurate estimates from concept to contract letting. You will build relationships with subcontractors and internal teams to win bids.

You will read plans, perform quantity take-offs, develop budgets, and oversee the tendering process for projects up to $100M, reporting to senior management and supporting business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Technology Diploma in Construction or Engineering.
• P.Eng. or CET designation preferred.
• Quantity Surveyor or Red Seal Estimator certification is an asset.
• 3–10 years of commercial construction estimating experience in Canada.
• Proven experience in estimating commercial and institutional projects.
• Strong understanding of estimating techniques, tendering, and contract negotiation.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients.
• Expert knowledge of unit costs and construction cost drivers.
• Proven track record preparing fixed-price tenders and budgets for projects up to $100M.
• Familiarity with building codes, materials, and estimating procedures.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities under pressure.
• Team player with leadership potential.
• MS Office Suite, Excel-based estimating tools, MS Project proficiency.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate full estimates for projects ranging from $50M to $100M in value.
• Prepare conceptual cost estimates from schematic or feasibility documentation.
• Read and interpret construction drawings to perform quantity take-offs.
• Participate in project planning and scope clarification.
• Contribute to pre-construction budgets and cost plans.
• Determine general conditions components of proposals and schedules.
• Maintain current and historical construction cost data.
• Support projects including building envelope, new construction, and renovations.
• Oversee tendering with qualified subcontractors and prepare bid packages.
• Analyze subcontractor requirements and provide guidance.
• Prepare and present cost/budget information to customers and owners.
• Participate in client presentations.
