Job summary

Handshake is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to shape foundation-level cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering, platform, and security teams to design scalable, cloud-native systems and codify best practices, pushing toward automated, intelligent operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure) at scale.
• Proficiency with Terraform or Crossplane and policy-driven IaC.
• Fluency with CI/CD tooling and GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux).
• Experience designing container-based and Kubernetes-native architectures.
• Interest in applying AI and automation to infrastructure problems.
• Strong communication skills for engineers and executives alike.
• Collaborative, documentation-driven mindset with shared ownership.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage scalable cloud infrastructure across production and development environments.
• Define and enforce best practices for cloud deployments to ship safely.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite) and GitOps with ArgoCD.
• Own and evolve IaC practices using Terraform, Crossplane, or similar tools.
• Drive platform improvements to reduce toil and increase developer velocity.
• Explore AI-driven approaches to infrastructure automation and observability.
• Partner with engineering to design cloud-native systems from the ground up.
• Mentor engineers on cloud best practices and patterns.
