Job summary

Desjardins in Canada is seeking a temporary Claims Best Practices Advisor to lead complex property and casualty projects, advise clients and partners, and drive rollout of programs and tools. You will collaborate across Claims, Underwriting, Sales and Commercial Insurance, analyze policy wordings, assess coverage impacts, and mentor decision-making bodies while spending most time with SMEs.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree, 6+ years of relevant experience, fluency in French and advanced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• A minimum of six years of relevant experience.
• Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in French (oral and written).
• Advanced proficiency in English due to duties with English-speaking partners.
• Advanced knowledge of property and commercial claims handling.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients and partners on strategic property and casualty insurance projects and initiatives.
• Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support strategic initiatives.
• Identify, analyze and diagnose major issues and make recommendations to decision-making bodies.
• Represent unit before internal decision-making bodies.
• Manage multiple concurrent mandates with varying durations.
• Conduct detailed coverage analyses for specific claim files and evaluate policy provisions.
• Act as a key liaison between business units and resolve coverage-related questions.
• Review and analyze commercial policy wordings and cover changes.
• Assess impact of policy wording changes on claims outcomes and risk.
• Provide guidance on policy language alignment with coverage intent and risk appetite.
• Support development and interpretation of commercial insurance products.
• Contribute to policy wording reviews and ensure clarity and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with SMEs across Claims, Underwriting, Sales and Commercial Insurance teams.
• Partner with regional stakeholders to gather insights and align recommendations.
• Spend 75%–80% of time collaborating with SMEs and partners.
• Present findings and recommendations to leadership as required.
