Job summary

Desjardins in Lévis, QC seeks a senior operational risk advisor for the second line of defence in the property and casualty insurance sector. You will monitor, challenge and guide non-financial risks and communicate complex risk issues to executives with clarity.

You will lead independent reviews of large projects, develop risk insights, and collaborate with risk officers and partners to support informed decision-making while strengthening risk governance across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, business administration, finance, accounting, risk management or any other relevant field
• Eight years of relevant experience in the P&C insurance sector
• Experience steering complex files
• Experience in operational risk management methodologies, frameworks and tools
• Advanced proficiency in written and spoken French
• Advanced proficiency of English for duties and tools
• Expertise in property and casualty insurance products, processes and risks
• Experience analyzing, writing and presenting to executives
• Knowledge of a financial institution’s business activities

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and track risks in the P&C insurance sector
• Develop understanding of emerging issues to guide interventions of the second line of defence
• Conduct independent reviews of large-scale projects to assess non-financial risks
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with collaborators in the P&C sector to identify and manage risks
• Ensure quality and value of the second line's deliverables through reviews and QA of risk positions
• Maintain an integrated view of sector risks and prioritize activities accordingly
• Serve as an expert reference for coordinating files and mentoring team members
• Represent risk management in committees and strategic projects with executive-level perspective
• Assist with updating risk management practices, processes, tools and methodologies
