Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Montreal, Canada, seeks a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to lead civil and structural engineering for AIS, GIS, and FACTS projects. This hybrid role supports safety, quality, reliability, schedule, and cost performance, including design, reviews, code compliance, and construction support.

You will act as Engineer of Record on assigned projects and deliver critical infrastructure for reliable power systems.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (Ing.) with license in Quebec (OIQ)
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of civil/structural engineering experience
• Experience as a licensed engineer on civil/structural projects for high-voltage substations and FACTS
• Proficient with design software: RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, L-Pile, ENERCALC, Hilti PROFIS, AutoCAD, Revit, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma)

Responsibilities

• Provide cost-effective engineering solutions meeting budget and contract requirements.
• Ensure safety requirements and mitigate potential risks.
• Develop civil/structural work plans and cost estimates.
• Prepare design criteria and engineering deliverables for project execution.
• Perform structural, building, foundation, and material specification engineering for HV substations and FACTS.
• Resolve design issues and ensure compliance with codes.
• Conduct technical reviews of design packages and support field construction activities.
• Serve as the licensed Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
