Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead analysis and design for nuclear power facilities in Canada. You will perform seismic qualification, ageing management, and develop comprehensive design packages for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems.

Responsibilities include guiding junior staff, ensuring QA compliance, and coordinating life-extension projects and plant modifications. P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree required.
• 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear plants or industrial facilities.
• P.Eng. license recognized in Canada, preferably Ontario.
• Eligible for federal security clearance.

• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including calculations and specifications.
• Analyze structural systems using industry software such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and SSASI.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, permitting, and QA programs.
• Lead engineering tasks within budget and schedule, including estimates, reviews, and design changes.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff.
• Review engineering work for quality and accuracy.
• Perform plant walkdowns as required.
• Prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents.
• Support life extension, plant modification, service work for existing nuclear plants and new builds.

• Review engineering work for quality and accuracy

• Prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents, including analysis reports, design calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and design requirements
• Support life extension, plant modification, service work for existing nuclear power plants, and new builds

Requirements

• Civil Engineering degree
• 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear power plants or industrial facilities
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license recognized in Canada, preferably registered in Ontario
• Eligible for federal security clearance
• Design-office and site experience
• Experience with nuclear plant modification processes (ECC or similar)
• Willingness to travel to client sites
• Expertise in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations
• Familiarity with analysis tools such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, and SAFE
• Knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes
• Knowledge of nuclear QA programs and nuclear safety regulations
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams under tight schedules and budgets
• Master's degree is an asset
