Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to lead bid strategy and cost delivery for municipal civil infrastructure projects, including water systems, wastewater facilities, and bridges. This remote role emphasizes collaboration with multiple stakeholders and design teams across Canada.

You will develop comprehensive estimates from conceptual design through tender, manage quotes, and drive value engineering while partnering with field teams to optimize procurement,

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years progressive estimating experience in civil construction.
• 5+ years GC environment experience; not for self-performing developers.
• Proven estimating success across ICI, residential, healthcare, and recreational builds.
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and ability to read blueprints and create cost models.
• Strong presentation skills; defend cost recommendations to diverse audiences.
• Deep understanding of market dynamics and supply chain fluctuations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and execute winning bid strategies for profitable projects.
• Produce full-cycle cost estimates from design through final tender with collaborative delivery.
• Lead cost-alignment workshops with stakeholders for transparency and budget decisions.
• Perform exhaustive quantity take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and sub-trades.
• Maintain databases for unit pricing, labor rates, contingencies, and escalation factors.
• Procure quotes, negotiate with vendors/subcontractors, and identify value engineering.
• Collaborate with field operations during pre-construction for procurement and scheduling.
• Monitor budgets and provide variance analyses to improve estimating.
• Foster strong partnerships with clients, consultants, sub-trades, and suppliers.
