Job summary

Oxford Manor Retirement seeks a Director of Care to provide direction to the nursing team and oversee daily healthcare operations in compliance with the Retirement Homes Act. You will lead resident assessments and an individualized care plan to ensure high-quality services.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• CPR & First Aid Certificate.
• Demonstrated experience with medication administration (if medications provided).
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
• 3 – 5 years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation.
• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a budget.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, TB results in less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot, and three work references.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, delegates, and evaluates the activities of the nursing department.
• Plans, assigns, and oversees the Residents’ health and personal care services.
• Participates in inter-professional assessments in identifying Residents’ needs and develops an individualized plan of care.
• Implements and monitors quality improvement.
• Meets with Residents/Families to resolve problems and concerns.
• Organizes and participates in the Resident care conference on admission and at 6 monthly intervals.
• Maintains accurate and complete health records.
• Reviews pre-medical assessments to ensure that the community is able to provide the care.
• Serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community.
• Responsible for the recruitment of associates,
• Completes performance appraisals of associates as required,
• Provides ongoing associate education,
• Maintains the staffing schedules,
• Promotes the vision, mission, values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Any and all other tasks as assigned
