We are seeking a Senior Buyer for our Saskatoon office to contribute to our procurement team:

Responsibilities

  1. Purchasing materials, assets, and services in accordance with policies and procedures, ensuring cost-effective transactions.
  2. Identifying and selecting vendors based on criteria such as specifications, price, quality, safety, and delivery timelines, with an understanding of "Best Value" principles.
  3. Developing general commodity knowledge through collaboration with procurement experts and supplier resources.
  4. Creating and managing purchase documents, including major purchase orders, rental agreements, and service contracts.
  5. Expediting orders, scheduling deliveries, and resolving issues related to material discrepancies, overdue deliveries, warranty claims, and returns.
  6. Ensuring all procurement activities adhere to ethical and legal standards.
  7. Coordinating with suppliers, internal departments, and project teams.
  8. Preparing RFQs, analyzing quotations, and interpreting information requests.
  9. Providing feedback on the supplier base to maximize value.
  10. Exploring innovative products, technologies, and processes to bring value and efficiency to PCL.

Qualifications

  1. Postsecondary diploma or degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or related field is an asset.
  2. Progress towards procurement or equipment certification is an asset.
  3. At least 4 years of experience in supply chain or procurement preferred.
  4. Basic construction knowledge, including understanding of specifications and procedures.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  7. Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Understanding of procurement laws, supply chain processes, and risk management.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills and stakeholder relationship management.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
