Senior Business Analyst - 12-month contract

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Business Solutions, you’ll engage with stakeholders as an advocate for the business to identify and describe business needs in terms of process and business requirements that will provide the best available solution to satisfy the need.

The core parts of your role will be to:

  1. Provide business analysis expertise in various business process and system integrations across the organization including implementation of multiple concurrent business initiatives to support projects and technology solutions.
  2. Examine business needs and goals. Capture and assess requirements, process and business problems to propose solutions and recommendations that improve existing business processes and promote effective and appropriate system solutions.
  3. Lead the evaluation of current state and future state business processes, perform gap analysis and develop/implement process improvement solutions. Document business requirements including creation of process models, maps, workflows, and diagrams.
  4. Develop test plans as required and be responsible for the execution of the test plans in conjunction with business units and the project and/or initiative stakeholders.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to determine project scope, vision, cost benefit analysis, and risk factors. Work with stakeholders to develop detailed solutions, estimates, and project plans in support of the business goals and in compliance with project methodology.
  6. Translate conceptual business requirements into a clear, comprehensible manner that is understandable to all stakeholders.
  7. Follow organizational standards to maintain quality of service and confidentiality.
  8. Develop practices and processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, change management, and release management processes. Identify strategic opportunities to add value to the business through improved processes, standards, and methodologies.
  9. Manage and track the status of requirements and clearly illustrate the connectivity between business goals/needs, defined requirements, delivered solutions, testing, and validation throughout the project lifecycle.
  10. Champion and participate in developing and advancing standards related to newer and emerging technologies.
  11. Analyze and execute reporting metrics and provide recommendations/requirements/solutions to improve business intelligence to support management decisions.
  12. Support enterprise roadmaps and planning by providing guidance on business need and impact that contributes to the overall requirements and organizational strategies and goals.
  13. Provide technical leadership to junior team members and perform other duties within the Business Analyst function, as assigned.
Qualifications

Let’s Talk About You:

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:

  1. A university degree, college diploma, or certification in a related field with advanced knowledge of best practices employed by the IIBA and BABOK.
  2. 8+ years of progressive experience in business reporting, business analysis, process design, and testing.
  3. High level of organizational ability with project management experience.
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and present findings to enable effective business solutions.
  5. Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Excellent presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills required.
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  7. Experience with the Microsoft 365 suite of products including SharePoint, Project, Power Automate is desirable.
  8. Experience working on multiple projects in parallel.
  9. Knowledge of the Educational, Insurance, Financial, and/or Call centre Industries is considered an asset.
  10. Data warehousing and business intelligence experience is considered an asset.
  11. Experience with analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI, and Tableau).
  12. Proven ability to coach and mentor on business solutions and context.
  13. Process related certification/designation or commitment to complete. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S and other Lean disciplines connected with cross-functional team leadership of business improvement is required.
  14. Exceptional ability to use innovative and effective methods to analyze data and produce business solutions that meet process requirements.
  15. Demonstrated leadership with the ability to drive the implementation of complex business solutions with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  16. Experience with issue tracking systems, working in agile/scrum environment, web, digital and mobile technology experience is an asset.
