Description

Reporting to the Manager, Finance - Business Transformation, the Senior Business Analyst is focused on the definition and delivery of business and technology based solutions. This position requires a combination of strong business, in-depth problem solving, broad solution delivery and excellent communication skills. The Senior Business Analyst works closely with Lead Sr. Business Analyst, project sponsors, business users, project managers and IS to identify and capture the business need, define requirements, plan the transition to a future state, and oversees the activities required to ensure that the solution meets the business need. The position is either based in Vernon, BC or can be remote for the right candidate within Canada.

Responsibilities

Solution Definition

1. Participate in and may lead the request for proposal and vendor evaluation process.
2. Conduct system analysis and design.
3. Perform research and analysis for potential solutions to complex business problems.

Solution Implementation

1. Lead and perform business requirements gathering, analysis and verification.
2. Facilitate diverse stakeholder group workshops and interviews in the gathering of complex business and system requirements.
3. Provide leadership and direction regarding analytical methods, processes and tools.
4. Define, lead and execute on test strategies, test plans and test cases.
5. Lead the acceptance and deployment of business and system solutions.

Business Process Improvement

1. Lead the design or restructuring of business processes.
2. Take a leadership role in understanding the impact of change.
3. Guide and support Senior leaders and Sponsors in change practices.
4. Assist in planning and executing the transition from current state to a future state.
5. Participate in the creation of change management deliverables such as communication plans, sponsor roadmap, training plans and resistance management plans.

Work Experience

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience conducting business analysis for medium to large enterprises with complex technology environments.
2. Significant experience leading analysts and/or small teams performing analysis related duties.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

1. Demonstrated ability to advocate, propose, negotiate, document and present approaches and solutions.
2. Mastered communication skills at all levels of the organization; business user, tester/developer, project manager, senior management.
3. Knowledge of emerging industry practices.
4. Experience with a variety of techniques for gathering and documenting requirements such as process maps, use cases, system flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams.
5. Experience with some of the following business functions: Accounting, Sales, Marketing, CRM, Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Product Life Cycle Management and Store Systems/Point of Sale.

Education

1. Post-secondary degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Special Requirements

1. Occasional travel.
2. Evening and occasional weekend work required.
3. Must have own transportation and a valid BC driver’s license.
