Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Senior Building Mechanical Designer to join our Building Mechanical Team. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 8 years in mechanical design and drafting for building services, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, Sanitary and fire protection, and BAS systems.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Mechanical System Design: Create detailed 2D & 3D models of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, Sanitary & Storm, fire protection, controls) using AutoCAD, Revit MEP. Ensure accuracy and coordination.
2. System Integration and Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate and resolve clashes in mechanical systems within the overall building design.
3. Design Optimization and Analysis: Analyze and optimize designs for efficiency, sustainability, and compliance. Propose modifications as needed.
4. Technical Documentation: Prepare and review technical drawings and schedules, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
5. Collaboration and Communication: Engage with multidisciplinary teams, participate in meetings, and contribute to problem-solving.
6. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks, address deficiencies, and recommend improvements.
7. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative modelling techniques.

Qualifications and skills:

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting for building services.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Strong knowledge of codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, OBC).
• Experience leading projects and coordinating teams.
• Diploma of Collegial Studies or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices is a plus.
