Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Senior Building Science Consultant to lead building envelope design, assessment, and field testing on rehabilitation and new construction projects.

You will guide project teams, review complex design criteria, and interface with architects, contractors, and clients to ensure performance and energy coherence. Travel regionally is required; registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science with Building Science focus.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in building envelope assessment, design, or construction.
• Strong knowledge of energy codes and envelope performance.
• Proven leadership and project-management experience.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead building envelope design and review for rehabilitation and new construction projects.
• Drive service line growth from a business perspective within the Building Specialty Services.
• Define scope of complex services and establish project design criteria.
• Review design documents for water, air leakage, vapor diffusion and thermal performance.
• Manage contract drawings and specifications with a project team.
• Conduct field reviews to confirm envelope assembly construction per plans.
• Prepare site visit reports and track resolution of deficiencies.
• Undertake field testing of envelope assemblies and report results.
• Provide expert advice on design processes or construction methods.
• Lead and mentor project teams of 1–5 staff and drive on-time, on-budget results.
