Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Canada is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Bridge and Civil Structures team across Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto. You will lead and supervise structural engineers on interdisciplinary projects to design, assess, and maintain bridges and heavy civil structures, delivering designs from concept to implementation.

The role requires 10–15 years' experience in transportation projects, a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and a P.E. in BC/AB/ON or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional Engineer in BC, AB or ON, or eligible to apply.
• 10–15 years of structural engineering and project management experience in transportation and heavy civil.
• Demonstrated capability to lead design teams, plan and manage resources to meet schedules and budgets.
• Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Familiarity with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and structural steel.
• Experience with design-bid-build and alternative procurement models (e.g. P3, Design-Build).
• Familiarity with SAP2000, CSiBridge, MIDAS Civil.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design of a wide range of structures above and below ground from planning through concept to implementation.
• Leading the assessment, rehabilitation and seismic upgrade design to existing structures from planning through concept to implementation.
• Working with other professionals, clients, and third parties as required.
• Writing technical memos and reports to communicate your work.
• Supervising, coordinating and reviewing the work of other structural engineers—including technical reports, engineering drawings, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, and technical support during construction.
• Overseeing the planning and management of projects to ensure that work is fit for purpose, completed on schedule and within budget.
• Providing project management and technical oversight—including mentoring team members and setting high standards for professionalism and quality.
• Working with new and existing clients to identify opportunities and develop new business as part of our ongoing growth strategy; and
• Leading the preparation of proposals.
