Job summary

Accountor CPA in Canada is seeking a diligent bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of clients remotely within Alberta, ensuring bookkeeping is accurate, current, and well organized. This client-facing role demands strong communication, accountability, and the ability to handle multiple deadlines.

You will work with a supportive team and report to an Accounting Manager, delivering timely monthly reports in a cloud-based, paperless environment.

Qualifications

• Accrual bookkeeping, debits/credits, and reconciliations.
• Full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting support.
• Tax filings including HST, WSIB, T4s, compliance.
• Experience in an accounting firm or fast-paced bookkeeping.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong client-facing communication and relationship building.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ownership mindset and accountability.
• Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage 50.

Responsibilities

• Manage and own a portfolio of clients.

About the Role

You will own a portfolio of clients and be responsible for keeping their bookkeeping and accounting support accurate, current, and well-organized. This is a client-facing role that requires accountability, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and relationships with confidence.

You will be trusted to take ownership of your work while working alongside a strong, supportive team, and this role reports to an Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

• Manage and own a portfolio of clients
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping for each client
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Support full-cycle accounting tasks, including invoicing, payables, payroll, and general bookkeeping
• Prepare and deliver monthly reporting on time
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients and respond to questions in a timely, professional manner
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent, high-quality service
• Keep internal documentation, workflows, and processes current and organized
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a remote environment

What You Bring

• Strong understanding of accrual bookkeeping, debits and credits, and reconciliations
• Experience with full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting support
• Experience with tax filings such as HST, WSIB, T4s, and related compliance requirements
• Previous experience in an accounting firm or fast-paced bookkeeping environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence communicating directly with clients and building strong relationships
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage 50

Qualifications

• Bookkeeping: 4+ years required
• Xero: 2+ years required
• QuickBooks: 2+ years required
• Accounting firm experience: 1+ year preferred
• Must be based in Alberta
