Job summary

Kent is seeking a Boiler & Furnace Specialist to support a SAGD project in Alberta. The role focuses on engineering, safety, and performance of boilers, furnaces, burners, and fired equipment systems used in thermal oil sands production.

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to design, specify, and operate multi-fuel-fired equipment in a regulated environment. The position requires hands-on site support, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• P.Eng registration with APEGA required.
• SAGD project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, furnaces, burners, and fuel systems.
• Experience with Alberta fuel safety regulations and authorities.
• Experience reviewing vendor packages and technical documentation.
• Ability to travel to site for inspections and support.

Responsibilities

• Engineering and reviewing boilers, furnaces, burners, and fired equipment systems.
• Supporting multi-fuel firing systems, including alternative and blended fuel sources.
• Reviewing burner management systems (BMS) and safety interlocks.
• Preparing and reviewing equipment specifications, data sheets, and MR submissions.
• Ensuring compliance with Alberta fuel safety authorities and applicable codes and standards.
• Reviewing vendor quotations, drawings, and technical submissions.
• Participating in FAT and SAT activities.
• Supporting site inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Providing technical guidance to clients and project teams.
