Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a SAGD Superintendent to direct day-to-day field execution across SAGD site construction—above-ground pipelines, central processing facilities, and well pads—overseeing crews, equipment, and transport per the plans, schedule and budget set by the Construction Manager. This role reports to the Construction Manager.

The candidate will lead multiple disciplines, coordinate with client Operations, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance in remote Alberta

Qualifications

• Journeyperson trade certification or a Bachelor’s Degree/Technical Diploma in Construction Management or Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in General Foreman or Superintendent roles on heavy industrial projects.
• Direct field experience on SAGD, oil sands or gas plant site construction, including brownfield work adjacent to operating facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support project start-up; confirm area readiness, crew mobilization and first-day access requirements
• Develop detailed Project Execution and Work Plans for assigned areas and systems
• Contribute assigned-area content to the project activity risk matrix and control the field hazards it identifies
• Assist in development of Project schedule; execute the three week look-ahead in collaboration with the Project Manager and General Foremen
• Execute the mobilization and demobilization plan in the field; crew intake, camp and travel arrangements, and rotation coverage for assigned areas
• Coordinate and supervise field activity across piping, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical & instrumentation, insulation and coatings scopes
• Provide direction to subordinate personnel responsible for project execution; General Foremen, Foremen, trades personnel, as well as equipment and transportation
• Lead the morning toolbox with assigned crews and participate in the weekly site safety meeting
• Lead / Assist THA/JSA/OHA reviews with HSE Advisor and personnel
• Administer client permitting, energy isolation and lock-out/tag-out requirements for work adjacent to live SAGD facilities; coordinate brownfield tie-in windows with Operations
• Deliver the safety initiatives and HSE deliverables assigned to the area
• Coordinate receipt, rigging and setting of fabricated modules, pipe spools and skids; verify dimensional control and resolve field fit issues with Field Engineering
• Lead the daily area debrief with crews, Foremen and subcontractor supervision
• Develop General Foremen and Foremen in the field; coach, assess and report their performance to the Construction Manager
• Maintain day-to-day working relationships with client site Operations, subcontractor supervision and vendors on site
• Generate the daily area field report; actual labor, equipment and activities completed with a plan for next day including contingencies
• Report earned quantities against Rules of Credit for assigned areas and identify productivity variances with causes
• Prepare and deliver the area shift report to the client
• Articulate area progress, constraints and recovery actions to the Construction Manager
• Identify and document project change; field direction, scope growth and standby with supporting records, for review by the Construction Manager
• Identify means/methods for cost mitigation from the field while not compromising safety or quality
• Perform HSE and Quality inspections / Audits in accordance with company manual
• Support system walkdowns, punch listing, hydrotest and reinstatement, and turnover package completion with the Quality and Completions groups
