Job summary

BDO Canada LLP in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Corporate Restructuring group. You’ll work on front‑line restructuring engagements, building cash flow models and strategic recovery plans while coordinating with lenders, management, and legal counsel.

The role emphasizes hands‑on problem solving, client service excellence, and opportunities for professional growth within a high‑performing team that supports both formal and informal restructurings.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in a professional accounting services firm (Audit experience is an asset).
• CPA designation obtained or in progress.
• Experience in corporate restructuring, insolvency, or turnaround is a strong asset—but not required. We’ll train the right candidate.
• Interest in pursuing the CIRP designation and developing a long-term career in restructuring.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to tackling complex issues.
• Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours and travel to client locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing financial data, accounting records, and financial models
• Assessing business plans, forecasts, and financial positions of distressed companies
• Preparing financial projection models, including 13‑week cash flow forecasts, and scenario analyses
• Supporting turnaround and restructuring strategies, including liquidity management, operational stabilization and recovery planning
• Supporting the execution of formal restructuring mandates including Receiverships, Proposals, and Bankruptcies
• Preparing formal reports to stakeholders, creditors, and the Courts
• Working directly with management teams, lenders, creditors, legal counsel and other professional advisors throughout engagements
• Taking ownership of key workstreams and deliverables while managing multiple engagements and timelines concurrently
• Managing sales processes for the disposition of distressed assets and businesses
• Participating in practice development and business networking initiatives
