As a Senior Architect with our Healthcare Infrastructure Division, you will be responsible for managing the design and implementation phase of Provincial Healthcare Infrastructure projects. Working to define the scope of a project by gathering information from stakeholders to understand what drives their hospital system and their interdependencies, you will oversee programming, planning and pre-design activities. You will also be responsible for supervising design and reviewing consultant-prepared documentation. The Senior Architect will participate in the procurement of design and construction services and work closely with the project manager(s) to ensure work is completed within the pre-established parameters of budget, schedule, quality and scope while adhering to policies, design documents, OH&S regulations and all applicable codes and standards for healthcare facilities. During construction, the Senior Architect will maintain familiarity with the progress and quality of construction and provide advice to the construction project managers and contractors to ensure stakeholders are kept up to date and involved as appropriate.
This five (5) year-term position reports to the Project Director, Shared Technical Services.
What you'll doBuild Nova Scotia Healthcare Infrastructure Division is committed to delivering an extensive, multi-site, multi-year infrastructure Redevelopment Plan designed to ensure the health care needs of Nova Scotians are met for the next 50 years.
The redevelopment plan includes major expansions and additions to hospitals and health services in communities across the Province, including throughout the Halifax and Cape Breton Regional Municipalities. Successful project delivery will allow services to be moved out of the aging facilities such as the Centennial, Victoria and Dickson buildings on the Victoria General (VG) site of the QEII.
Master planning for the redevelopment program is focused on modernizing the health care system to ensure the needs of Nova Scotians remain at the heart of our delivery of best-in-class services. Together, the redevelopment projects will help support the health care of all Nova Scotians today, and for future generations.
