Job summary

The City of Winnipeg is seeking a Head Instructor Guard to organize and direct aquatic programming and lifeguarding at municipal facilities. You will plan schedules, ensure patron and staff safety, manage training and discipline, and respond to emergencies.

This role reports to the Pool Supervisor and involves reporting, HR tasks, and liaising with community groups. Qualified candidates will have lifeguarding and aquatics instruction experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work both

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent training/experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Active Net.
• Able to organize, plan, and lead staff.
• Experience lifeguarding and teaching aquatics.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong time management and scheduling skills.
• Knowledge of water safety and pool operations.
• Ability to provide emergency medical care reliably.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lifeguarding duties and assist with maintenance tasks.
• Administer First Aid when required.
• Plan and supervise aquatic programs and manage staffing data.
• Conduct in-service training clinics and pool testing.
• Assist in program registration and staff supervision.
• Maintain pool records and export data.
• Coordinate special aquatic courses as assigned.
• Inspect sites to ensure safety and sanitation.
• Enforce departmental safety policies and guidelines.
• Handle user fees and cash transactions.
• Collaborate with community groups and civic staff.
