Job summary

The City of Burnaby seeks an Aquatic Leader 1 to support a supervisor in delivering aquatic instructional and recreational programs at Eileen Dailly Pool. You will supervise a diverse team of lifeguards, instructors and attendants on assigned shifts, and contribute to planning, safety, and event promotion.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 with lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction and pool operation training.
• Some supervisory experience or equivalent training and experience.
• Certifications include Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, NL Pool Award and Standard First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Deck and lesson supervision; ensure pool areas and changerooms are clean and safe.
• Lead by example in instructional, lifeguarding, maintenance and clerical tasks.
• Assist in planning, organizing and promoting aquatic programs, fitness activities and events.
• May participate in hiring and evaluating staff and volunteers; emergency response readiness.
