Why is this role important?

The Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance (QA), under the direction of the Team Lead, Quality Assurance and the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for working with ITS staff and business units to ensure quality in CIHI’s data transformation deliverables. This includes supporting large data transformation projects along with senior QA staff, involvement in test planning and test execution activities, participating as the sole QA representative on smaller initiatives and contributing to the evolution of CIHI’s QA methodology.

What you'll do

1. Leads the testing efforts as a Quality Assurance (QA) representative with project teams, business groups and development teams.
2. Participates in the design of test strategies/test cases to support accurate and comprehensive testing of enhancements across corporate products.
3. Responsible for the review of requirements, creation of test plans, test cases and scripts for product releases, execution of test scripts, identification and/or creation of test data, logs defects, and providing input on product quality.
4. Works closely with other team members including Business Analyst and Development roles to understand extract, transform and load (ETL) logic and design appropriate test approaches and scripts.
5. Provides leadership in the investigation of bugs or issues during testing, which may result in changes to test scripts or creation of defects for the development team to address.
6. Collaborates in the design and development of test automation and test frameworks for data pipelines.
7. Promotes test standards as identified in the CIHI Software Development and Test Methodologies.
8. Actively participates in impact assessments for Change Requests.
9. Responsible for reviewing deliverable products and conducts document inspections for compliance with expectations and applicable CIHI quality standards.
10. Mentors’ other members of the Quality Assurance team.
11. Assumes responsibility for other related duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to the table

• University degree or equivalent education/experience in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related discipline, with further specialization or experience in Quality Assurance methodologies for system development.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a technical analytical position involved in Quality Assurance within software development cycles.
• Demonstrated experience with testing methodologies, test strategy and planning, test case development & execution and test data management.
• Excellent experience testing AWS Cloud based solutions, data lakes and other data and file structures in AWS (S3, Redshift) and version control systems (e.g. Gitlab)..
• Proven experience working with Python/PySpark to develop test automation and/or components for testing frameworks.
• Experience working with tools and frameworks such as Glue, Hive, Apache Airflow or similar products.
• Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience in writing and optimizing complex queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Qlik BI solutions is an asset.
• Experience writing and/or executing automated testing including test data management tools and ETL tools and/or automation frameworks is considered an asset.
• Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools for continuous testing and integration would be an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to plan and coordinate workload effectively is essential.
• Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
