Job summary

Vale Base Metals in Toronto, Canada, seeks a Senior Analyst, IT Network & Cloud Connectivity to join the IT Operations & Projects team.

You will support global WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, and remote site networks, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across corporate and site locations.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Analyst, IT Network & Cloud Connectivity to join our IT Operations & Projects team in Toronto, Ontario.

This is a permanent position supporting Vale Base Metals' global network infrastructure and connectivity services, including WAN, LAN, wireless, SD-WAN, Internet, telecom, cloud connectivity, and remote site network environments. In this role, you will contribute to the reliability, security, performance, and continuous improvement of business-critical network services that support mining operations, corporate functions, cloud platforms, data centers, and remote locations globally.

Reporting to the Manager, Network & Hosting Management, you will play a key role in supporting the performance, security, governance, and continuous improvement of Vale Base Metals' global network and connectivity services. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, Operational Technology (OT), Service Management, Project teams, telecommunications providers, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to enhance network reliability, strengthen operational controls, support modernization initiatives, and provide the secure connectivity that enables business operations across our global enterprise.

In this role, you will:
Network Operations & Connectivity Services
  • Support the operation and reliability of global WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, Internet, telecom, cloud connectivity, and remote site networking services.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex network and connectivity-related issues.
  • Support business-critical 24/7 network environments across corporate and operational sites.
  • Help ensure network services meet performance, availability, resiliency, and business requirements.
Network Governance & Architecture
  • Support governance of enterprise network standards, connectivity models, and service designs.
  • Participate in network modernization, WAN transformation, SD-WAN, wireless, cloud connectivity, and remote site initiatives.
  • Ensure network implementations align with cybersecurity requirements, architecture standards, and operational support models.
  • Identify risks, operational gaps, and supportability concerns within network solutions.
Incident, Problem & Change Management
  • Support the resolution of complex incidents and major outages impacting network services.
  • Conduct technical analysis and root cause investigations for recurring issues and service disruptions.
  • Partner with MSPs, telecommunications providers, and internal teams to drive corrective actions and service improvements.
  • Review network changes for operational readiness, implementation risks, monitoring requirements, and support impacts.
Monitoring, Performance & Capacity Management
  • Monitor network availability, performance, utilization, latency, bandwidth consumption, and capacity trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve resilience, performance, monitoring effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Operations, Security, Cloud Operations, Applications, and Site teams to strengthen detection and response capabilities.
  • Support initiatives that reduce recurring incidents and improve end-user experience.
Operational Readiness & Service Transition
  • Support onboarding and operational acceptance of new network services and connectivity solutions.
  • Validate documentation, runbooks, CMDB records, support models, monitoring coverage, and escalation processes.
  • Ensure internal teams, MSPs, and vendors are prepared to support newly implemented services.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with telecommunications providers, MSPs, and technology vendors to drive service quality and operational excellence.
  • Support governance reviews, performance assessments, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Promote operational discipline, accountability, and best practices across the network services environment.

You are a collaborative and technically strong networking professional who thrives in a complex global environment. You enjoy solving challenging connectivity issues, improving service performance and partnering with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable network services.


You possess deep technical expertise in enterprise networking technologies and are comfortable working across traditional infrastructure, cloud connectivity, operational technology environments, and managed service ecosystems

Experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience supporting enterprise networking, infrastructure, telecommunications, or cloud connectivity environments.
  • Experience working with global WAN, LAN, Wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud networking technologies.
  • Experience supporting incident, problem, change, and service management processes.
  • Experience working within a multi-provider, managed services environment.
  • Experience supporting business-critical operational environments across multiple locations.
Education
  • College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, Internet, telecom, and cloud connectivity services.
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, wireless networking, DNS, DHCP, QoS, firewalls, and network segmentation.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity architectures.
  • Understanding of network monitoring, observability, performance analytics, and operational governance.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices including Incident, Problem, Change, Availability, and Capacity Management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical challenges into clear business recommendations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on reliability, resiliency, security, automation, and customer experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • SD-WAN certification.
  • Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent cloud networking certification.
  • Network security or infrastructure-related certifications.
  • Experience supporting global network transformation or modernization initiatives.
