Job summary

Vale Base Metals seeks a Millwright Maintenance Planner/Supervisor to join the Coleman Mine team in Sudbury, Ontario. The role focuses on maintaining and improving maintenance planning, coordinating with schedulers, and ensuring safe, efficient work processes on-site.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or GED required or equivalent experience.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or engineering is preferred.
  • Relevant supervisor core credentials are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to MPC processes using SAP, Prometheus, and related tools.
  • Plan and execute work orders including shutdown and external work.
  • Manage backlog and ensure safety-focused scheduling with end-date priorities.
  • Coordinate with Scheduler to follow planning routines.
  • Monitor KPIs and keep within assigned budgets; escalate issues.
  • Perform relief supervisor duties and foster safe, collaborative work culture.
  • Lead process improvements and facilitate project planning.
  • Commission new facilities and assist in turnover to the plant.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance (PS) to join our Coleman Mine team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site position. The work schedule is Monday to Friday – 8 hour days. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As a Millwright Maintenance Planner/Supervisor, you will be helping to facilitate the continuous improvement of the Maintenance team’s performance, through the effective use of established processes and procedures. Your experience and skills will be accountable for the project planning of work for the Coleman Mine Department and may be required to provide relief supervision as needed.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
  • Execute the “Planning” element of the process for all types of work orders, systematic and non-systematic maintenance, which includes shutdown (PMP) and external resource-related work.
  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with emphasis on safety and based on priority and required end date. Ensure work order users' statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order.
  • Coordinate and facilitate with the Scheduler to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets. Work within assigned budgets and elevate to management should a budget be exceeded.
  • Identify and escalation all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of the “work schedule” for completion by the Required End Date.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other planners, schedulers, and crew members.
  • Perform relief supervisor duties as required which requires holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism; and work with the team to develop an interactive workplace environment.
  • Project planning and facilitation on process improvements.
  • Commissioning new facilities and helping create MST’s to turn over to the plant.

About You
Education
  • Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency with equivalent experience is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have a College Diploma or University Degree in a related industrial field or a University Degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Generic Supervisor Common Core (770141), First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core (770121), or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (770120) is an asset.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience as a Planner/ Scheduler.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and leading teams with best work practices.
  • Experience as a millwright in a mining plant or heavy industry is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, SAP, and Prometheus add-on.
Skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
