Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner, seeks a Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Tech Lead based in Canada. You will provide hands-on technical leadership for open-source infrastructure supporting federated AI and privacy-preserving technologies, guiding a globally distributed squad building tools for AI model ensembles.

You will shape architectural strategy, drive production readiness, and mentor engineers while delivering scalable, secure systems in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience with production systems
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor) and guiding teams
• Python 3.12+ with FastAPI and async orchestration
• Designing distributed systems and robust APIs
• Leadership in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices
• Experience mentoring engineers (2+ people)
• Strong communication across distributed teams
• RAG and information retrieval familiarity would be a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end technical architecture across the stack to deliver reliable solutions
• Drive production readiness with monitoring, error handling, and runbooks
• Promote engineering best practices including security, reliability, and scalability
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture, reviews, and problem solving
• Mentor engineers and foster knowledge sharing within a global team
• Influence broader technology strategy and reusable components
• Collaborate with product leadership on realistic technical roadmaps
• Own quarterly engineering objectives and manage priorities
• Oversee team performance, delivery timelines, and morale
• Introduce and improve tools, workflows, and processes for quality delivery
• Produce technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer
