Job summary

RBC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Toronto to design and build robust AI services and scalable systems for production AI workloads. You will collaborate with data scientists and infrastructure teams to deliver enterprise-grade software, balancing on-prem and cloud deployments.

The role emphasizes API design, distributed systems, and modern frameworks using Python and Golang, with performance tuning and observability across hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed systems and AI service architectures.
• Experience with code review, testing, design patterns, and software architecture.
• Hands-on experience building scalable applications with modern frameworks.
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• API, event-driven, microservices, and service-oriented architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and Golang.
• Experience with performance optimization and caching.
• Experience deploying across hybrid on-prem and cloud (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, logging.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and optimizing AI services that power the business’s AI and ML applications
• Following software best practices and standards for code quality, performance, and scalability across AI applications
• Collaborating with infrastructure engineers and machine learning researchers to support the integration, reliability, and performance of AI applications at scale
• Contributing to technical design discussions and system architecture for AI applications and projects, including API design, data models, and integration patterns
• Building scalable, resilient cloud and on-premise software systems for hosting AI services using state-of-the-art technologies
