RBC in Toronto is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead development of our data platform and AI capabilities, shaping scalable solutions and elevating engineering standards across the team.

The role spans full-stack work with Java/Kotlin, Python, and React, API design, ETL pipelines, and DevOps practices. Strong PostgreSQL/Snowflake experience and enterprise system design are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development across multiple languages and frameworks
• Deep expertise in Java and Kotlin with enterprise-scale systems
• Strong Python proficiency
• Experience with backend data systems and data pipelines
• PostgreSQL and Snowflake experience
• Strong DevOps with GitHub, Maven, CI/CD, and containerization
• Experience designing APIs and microservices
• Multi-threading and large-scale system design
• Frontend development with React/modern JavaScript

Responsibilities

• Design and implement full-stack solutions across Java/Kotlin, Python, React, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake (as part of data platform and AI initiatives)
• Design and implement APIs in Kotlin
• Lead ETL pipeline development and optimization
• Architect scalable backend services and frontend applications
• Champion AI/LLM integration and prompt engineering
• Drive testing frameworks, DevOps practices, and SDLC discipline
• Participate in security and architectural design reviews
• Manage GitHub repositories, Maven builds, and CI/CD improvements
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability
