Job summary

You will work with ML models and the model registry, write design documents, evaluate new technologies, and collaborate with ML and data science teams to enable reliable AI at scale. This role emphasizes performance, cost awareness, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing, building, and scaling production-grade distributed systems.
• Proficient in Python with production-level code and systems.
• Familiarity with LLMs and traditional ML models and their production deployment.
• Ability to design monitoring strategies for system health and cost.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to write design documents and build consensus.
• Collaborative, with experience mentoring other engineers and fostering inclusion.
• Product-minded approach to infrastructure decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team technically by making critical design decisions for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design, implement, and maintain large-scale systems moving ML models to production.
• Write design documents to build consensus for new components and enhancements.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies within Workday and the broader industry.
• Troubleshoot, improve, and scale CI pipelines.
• Develop relationships with software engineers, ML engineers, and data scientists.
• Respond to alerts and debug production issues to maintain platform health.
• Review pull requests and enforce coding standards, performance, readability, and security.
• Develop documentation to share knowledge with other engineers.
