Job summary

Workday in Toronto seeks a Principal AI Engineer to drive production-grade AI agents on Databricks and AWS. You will design architectures, implement reference deployments, and raise the bar for production readiness while collaborating with security, data, and platform teams.

You will lead hands-on development across the stack, diagnose complex issues, and work with business teams to translate needs into scalable platform solutions. Open to 50% in-office in Toronto.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data & AI application development in Python, IaC and CI/CD; production environment.
• 8+ years of modern data stack experience, i.e.; Databricks, AWS, Snowflake, GCP, or comparable technologies.
• 6+ years of professional experience with LLM applications in a major cloud AI-native stack.

Responsibilities

• Define production-ready criteria for AI applications and enforce gates in deployment pipelines.
• Own architecture patterns for AI apps across Databricks and AWS stacks; provide reference implementations.
• Hands-on engineering in code with AWS Bedrock, AgentCore, Databricks Agent Bricks and Unity Catalog.
• Diagnose complex issues in non-deterministic systems; bisect regressions; trace latency and costs.
• Lead design reviews with platform, data, security and SRE teams; ensure safe handoff to operations.
• Collaborate with business teams to translate needs into platform and data design decisions.
• Provide cross-functional leadership and influence across partner functions.
