Job summary

Nutrien Ag Solutions Limited invites applications for Senior Advisor, Human Resources. The role supports Fort Saskatchewan and Joffre Nitrogen sites, delivering strategic HR guidance, workforce planning, and hands-on HR services in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will partner with site leaders to deliver people solutions, coach leaders, and drive organizational effectiveness while ensuring policy compliance and risk management. Strong collaboration across HR functions is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive HR generalist experience.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta employment legislation and regulations.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations or fast-paced growth environments.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence leaders and build strong partnerships.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives and supporting business transformation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success working in a matrixed environment balancing enterprise and site priorities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as HR partner for Fort Saskatchewan and Joffre Nitrogen sites, guiding leadership and objectives.
  • Develop workforce plans with leaders to address talent needs.
  • Coach on employee relations, organizational effectiveness, change, performance, and related matters.
  • Ensure fair application of HR policies and employment laws while mitigating risk.
  • Lead and support HR programs: compensation, performance, talent development, engagement, retention, planning.
  • Collaborate with Centres of Excellence and HR Operations to deliver services and solutions.
  • Analyze workforce data and feedback to identify trends and actions for improvement.
  • Support disability management and accommodation processes with leaders and third parties.
  • Consult on organizational change, restructuring and business transformation initiatives.
  • Participate in and lead HR projects as needed.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources Business Relations, the Senior HR Advisor provides strategic and operational HR support to the Fort Saskatchewan and Joffre Nitrogen sites.

This role partners with leaders across both sites to deliver people solutions that support business objectives, enhance employee experience, develop talent, and drive organizational effectiveness and change. The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing strategic consultation with hands‑on HR support.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the lead HR partner for the Fort Saskatchewan and Joffre Nitrogen sites, providing strategic HR guidance to site leadership and supporting the achievements of business objectives
  • Partner with leaders to develop workforce plans and address current and future talent needs
  • Provide coaching and consultation on employee relations, organizational effectiveness, change management, performance management, and other people‑related matters
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies, practices, and employment legislation while mitigating organizational risk
  • Lead and support the execution of HR programs and processes, including compensation, performance management, talent development, employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning
  • Collaborate with Centres of Excellence and HR Operations to deliver HR services, programs, and solutions that meet business needs
  • Analyze workforce data, employee feedback, exit interviews, and other people metrics to identify trends and recommend actions for continuous improvement
  • Support disability management and employee accommodation processes in partnership with leaders, COEs, and third‑party providers
  • Consult on organizational change, restructuring, business improvement initiatives, and other projects impacting people and culture
  • Participate in and lead special HR projects and initiatives as needed
