GPI Chartered Professional Accountants in Fernie, BC is seeking a Senior Manager to lead audit, review, tax engagements and client relationships for a diverse local portfolio. Qualifications

• CPA designation required
• 5+ years post-designation experience in public practice
• Experience with T1, T2, T3 and corporate tax
• Strong knowledge of Canadian ASPE, NPO standards, and Income Tax Act
• Experience supervising staff and managing client files
• Proficient communication skills and professional integrity

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audit and review engagements for a diverse client portfolio
• Prepare and review T2 corporate tax returns, T1 personal returns, T3 trusts, and partnership returns
• Review compilation engagements and financial statement preparation
• Provide strategic tax planning and owner-manager remuneration guidance
• Manage client relationships and act as trusted advisor across accounting and business advisory needs
• Liaise with CRA on audits, objections and inquiries
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and CPA students
• Contribute to firm growth through business development and community engagement

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chartered Professional Accountant to join our team in a senior capacity. Depending on the experience and goals of the successful candidate, this position can be structured as a Senior Accountant, Manager, or a direct pathway toward a partner role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audit and review engagements for a diverse client portfolio, including owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and other entities
• Prepare and review T2 corporate tax returns, T1 personal returns, trust returns (T3), and partnership returns across a varied client base
• Review compilation engagements and financial statement preparation in accordance with Canadian standards
• Provide strategic tax planning advice, including corporate reorganizations, estate planning considerations, and owner-manager remuneration strategies
• Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor across a broad range of accounting, financial, and business advisory needs
• Liaise with CRA on client matters including audits, objections, and compliance inquiries
• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff and CPA students
• Contribute to firm growth through business development, referral relationships, and active community engagement
• Participate in practice management, quality control, and the continuous improvement of firm processes

Qualifications & Experience

• Canadian CPA designation required
• Minimum 5 years of post-designation experience in public practice, with hands-on expertise in audit, review, compilation, and tax engagements
• Experience preparing and reviewing T1, T2, T3, and other Canadian tax filings
• Strong technical knowledge of Canadian ASPE, NPO standards, and the Income Tax Act
• Experience managing client files independently and supervising junior staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex matters to non-accountants
• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
• Proficiency with accounting and tax software (CaseWare, Tax Cycle, QBO, or equivalent)
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in practice ownership is a strong asset
• Desire to build long-term roots in the Fernie community is a strong asset
