Job summary

PMT Chartered Professional Accountants LLP in Quesnel, BC is seeking an energetic Accountant for a full-time, in-person role at our office. You will prepare working papers, financial statements for assurance and compilation engagements, tax returns, and handle payroll, GST/PST, and CRA liaison, while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant Canadian public accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates possessing British Columbia public practice experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASPE and ASNPO, including a solid grasp of BC-specific corporate tax credits and provincial regulations.
  • Experience working with public accounting and tax software, with CaseWare and/or TaxCycle experience considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent project management, time management, planning, organizing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to seamlessly follow the Firm's established procedures and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Canadian corporate tax returns, trust returns, and personal tax returns.
  • Manage compliance matters, including BC PST and GST filings, payroll, and navigate WorkSafeBC reporting requirements.
  • Assist local clients with bookkeeping-related queries and other ad-hoc financial questions.
  • Maintain strong, reliable relationships with Cariboo-based, owner-managed businesses (e.g., forestry, agriculture, logistics, and retail).
  • Communicate and liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on complex tax-related matters.
  • Mentor, train, and support junior accounting staff and technicians.
  • Contribute to special client projects and other related tasks as required.

The Opportunity

We currently have an opening for an energetic and enthusiastic Accountant who is a strong multi-tasker and ready to take on the challenges of a busy accounting office. This position is 100% in-person at our Quesnel office and offers genuine advancement opportunities to grow with the firm.

Schedule & Hours
  • Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day.
  • Half-day Fridays from June to August.
  • Overtime required during the T1 Personal Tax Season (March and April).
