Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting for a 15-month engagement in the Calgary area. You will handle the full month-end close, financial reporting, and coordination with audit teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience, CPA designation, strong Excel skills, and Oracle knowledge is a plus. You will partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting and contribute to process improvements.

About Our Client

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting for a 15-month opportunity.

About the Opportunity

• Complete the full month-end accounting cycle, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and management reporting packages.
• Analyze transaction activity, settlements, and financial variances, identifying and resolving discrepancies as required.
• Provide financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc support to business stakeholders.
• Liaise with the internal and external audit teams to ensure timely and accurate audits
• Maintain audit-ready working papers and support internal and external audit processes.
• Interpret and apply accounting standards, corporate policies, and internal controls to business transactions.
• Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Prepare regulatory and government filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established deadlines.
• Support process improvements, special projects, and other duties consistent with the scope of the role.

About You

• 5+ years of experience in accounting with at least 2 years in industry
• Strong experience in financial reporting, month end close, internal controls, accruals
• CPA designation or other internationally recognized professional accounting designation is required
• Strong proficiency in excel
• Experience with Oracle is considered an asset but not required
• Industry experience in the energy retail sector is an asset but not required
