Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a skilled accounting professional to manage full-cycle accounting and monthly closes for corporate entities. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany activity while supporting reporting, HST, and audit requirements in a Canadian context.

You will also own forecasting, group consolidation, cash flow monitoring, investment reporting, and ad-hoc analyses, collaborating with management to improve accuracy and timeliness of financial processes within

Qualifications

  • 3 years of general accounting, full-cycle accounting, corporate accounting, or related financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, balance sheets, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Advanced Excel skills with linked schedules, reconciliations, formulas, and financial reporting templates.
  • Consolidation experience and cash flow experience are nice to have; Sage would be a nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and trial balance maintenance.
  • Review, enter, and reconcile intercompany, accounts receivable, and accounts payable transactions related to assigned entities.
  • Support collections, disbursements, and related follow-up for assigned entities as required.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting schedules and analyze key results, variances, and unusual items for review with the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare and submit HST returns for assigned entities.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and provide backup for management reporting, audit requests, bank reporting, and other external stakeholder requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness within recurring accounting and reporting processes.
  • Participate in finance projects, process improvements, and other ad-hoc reporting assignments as required.
  • Maintain and update the 36-month rolling forecast for assigned non-operating entities, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow assumptions.
  • Prepare and update group consolidation templates using existing models, including intercompany eliminations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly group-level consolidation reporting and analysis of actual and forecast results for management review.
  • Monitor group-level bank balances and daily cash activity across the group.
  • Maintain the daily cash flow report, including expected receipts, scheduled disbursements, payroll funding requirements, loan activity, and short-term liquidity needs.
  • Prepare and maintain a three-month cash flow forecast to support short-term liquidity planning and identify working capital needs.
  • Present weekly cash flow updates to senior management, as required.
  • Escalate items requiring management attention to the Finance Manager.
  • Maintain quarterly investment reporting schedules using external investment statements and supporting documentation.
  • Update fair market values, distributions, realized and unrealized gains/losses, and other relevant investment activity.
  • Reconcile investment balances to supporting statements and investigate unusual variances.
  • Prepare investment reporting summaries for management review.
  • Escalate investment-related items

About the Opportunity

Forecasting and Consolidation
  • Maintain and update the 36-month rolling forecast for assigned non-operating entities, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow assumptions, and highlight key changes and financial impact.
  • Prepare and update group consolidation templates using existing models, including intercompany eliminations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly group-level consolidation reporting and analysis of actual and forecast results for management review.
Cash Flow and Treasury Reporting
  • Monitor group-level bank balances and daily cash activity across the group.
  • Maintain the daily cash flow report, including expected receipts, scheduled disbursements, payroll funding requirements, loan activity, and short-term liquidity needs.
  • Prepare and maintain a three-month cash flow forecast to support short-term liquidity planning and identify working capital needs.
  • Integrate the cash flow template with the latest approved forecast to ensure cash flow projections are aligned with current business assumptions.
  • Present weekly cash flow updates to senior management, as required.
  • Escalate items requiring management attention to the Finance Manager.
Investment Reporting
  • Maintain quarterly investment reporting schedules using external investment statements and supporting documentation.
  • Update fair market values, distributions, realized and unrealized gains/losses, and other relevant investment activity.
  • Reconcile investment balances to supporting statements and investigate unusual variances.
  • Prepare investment reporting summaries for management review.
  • Escalate investment-related items
About You
  • 3 years of general accounting, full-cycle accounting, corporate accounting, or related financial reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, balance sheets, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with linked schedules, reconciliations, formulas, and financial reporting templates.
  • Consolidation experience and cash flow experience are nice to haves.
  • Sage would be a nice to have
Pay Range

$80,000 - $85,000 per year

Location and Eligibility

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
