Base pay range

CA$75,000.00 / yr - CA$100,000.00 / yr

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting and general ledger maintenance. This role is vital to the company's overall success, requiring a professional with a strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, and confidentiality. The Senior Accountant will support month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting and analysis, and external audit processes, among other responsibilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Facilitate and complete monthly closing procedures.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
  • Oversee fixed asset processing and reporting.
  • Conduct daily bank account reviews and weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in streamlining expense procedures and invoice processing.
  • Manage sales tax reporting and other government reporting.
  • Prepare for and support various audit activities.
  • Document and monitor internal controls.
  • Assist with monthly bank reporting.
  • Monitor and report on positive pay exceptions.
  • Execute other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Recommended Qualifications

  • CPA designation or near completion is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience; experience in the distribution industry is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE principles, including controls and standards.
  • Proven analytical and business planning skills, with ability to research and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proactive with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong team player capable of meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
