Senior Accountant – Vaughan, ON

Our client, a respected and growing company in Vaughan, ON, has exclusively partnered with Harbinger Network to hire aSenior Accountantto support their expanding finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining general ledger integrity, and supporting both internal controls and external audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle general ledger account reconciliations and month-end close processes
• Prepare and analyze complex bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure accuracy
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and related analysis
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Support year-end audits by preparing working papers and drafting financial statement notes
• Monitor and streamline expense processing and ensure compliance with procedures
• Handle sales tax filings and other government reporting requirements
• Assist in internal control documentation and process improvement initiatives
• Support positive pay exception reporting and monthly bank reporting activities
• Collaborate cross-functionally to provide financial insights and support operational decisions

Qualifications

• CPA designation (or actively pursuing) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a wholesale or distribution environment
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and internal control frameworks
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, and functions)
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong initiative and ability to identify and resolve issues independently
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high sense of urgency
