The Role
As a key member of Evident accounting team, the Senior Accountant plays an incremental role in ensuring Evident financial reporting to meet the highest standards of integrity. Reporting to Accounting Manager, the role owns financial reporting assurance, Canadian payroll, Canadian tax filing & return, and support external audit and accounting system implementation initiatives.
What You’ll Do :
- Prepare three financial statements (Income statements, balance sheet and cashflow statements) for Evident and affiliated entities to support timely financial reporting needs.
- Collaborate with international finance team to conduct full balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis with value added recommendations to improve financial reporting accuracy.
- Research, develop and maintain revenue recognition, internally developed software capex, transfer pricing and other critical accounting practice related policies, procedures and supporting memos.
- Prepare payroll for Canada based employees and collaborate with external payroll consultant to ensure timely and high-quality payroll service.
- Prepare timely annual sales tax, income tax, SR&ED tax return with complete supporting documentation.
- Assist on year-end audit initiative by providing requested documents and coordinating internal & external activities.
- Assist on finance digital transformation initiative and participate in various accounting system implementation initiatives.
- Other ad hoc accounting initiatives.
Who You Are :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA designation is required; big 4 firm experience is an asset.
- 5+ years progressive general accountant experience including practical tax return and payroll experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, a super user with NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics; accounting system implementation experience is an asset.
- A growth mindset and energized in high-growth entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- A team player who is willing to “roll up their sleeves” and lend support wherever needed
- Strong organization and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Professional and effective communication and presentation skills at all levels.
