Job summary

Stevenson & White in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Accountant to drive financial excellence. Reporting to the Controller, you will ensure timely financial statements, conduct financial analysis, assist with budgeting and forecasting, uphold internal controls, and support process improvements.

The ideal candidate has CPA designation or is in progress, 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting.
• CPA designation or in progress is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Sound knowledge of GAAP.
• Ability to analyze financial data and present to senior management.
• Proficient in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information.
• Prepare financial analysis, including financial statements, accounts, and job cost analysis.
• Develop and enhance tools to track key performance indicators.
• Set up and maintain procedures for reporting and internal checks such as inventory counts, reconciliation and purchase tracking.
• Support annual external audit.
• Assist in regular compliance matters as required.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the timely preparation of periodic financial statements, analyzing financial information, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, upholding internal controls, and helping to enhance financial processes and policies.
